FAQ’s

  • I prefer that students learn a healthy respect of the water and are safe in it and learn to have fun. I roughly base my lessons on the American Red Cross lessons and meet students where they are. I don’t submerge a frightened student. Safety and comfort first, then technique and then speed.

  • They just need to be toilet trained (swim diapers leach urine and fecal matter), which is usually around 2-3 years old. The nearby city recreation departments may offer parent-tot classes.

  • Absolutely! I’ve been working with adults for about 20 years. I work at your pace. If you see me teach the kiddos, I nudge them a little more. I love teaching adults because the WANT TO LEARN. Kids often don’t understand the importance of knowing how to swim.

  • Yes, I’ve worked with swimmers with disabilities - autism, down syndrome, and cerebral palsy-since 2014.

My pool is not equipped with a lift so swimmers need to be mobile enough to get into the pool themselves.

If disabilities present behaviors where anyone or anything - the student, observers, myself or property- is getting hurt, I reserve the right to cancel the lesson and refund remaining lessons.

  • I need a 24 hour notice. In years past, it was a two hour policy, but it got abused. If clients forget their lesson, it is a forfeit. If I need to cancel a lesson, I will offer a makeup day/time, or you can reschedule it, or if a date can’t be rescheduled, I’ll offer a refund.

  • For kids - I’d require they get used to swimming without goggles. It really becomes a safety concern too. Once a child gets to a certain level of proficiency, I will allow them - with occasional short swims without goggles. Adult students may wear goggles or any other accessory they wish. If adults wear contacts, goggles are necessary.

  • Crying is totally normal - the water is foreign! If they are crying in a very traumatized way after 2 or 3 lessons, then I will suggest waiting another season. This is not all for naught - a truly fearful child will likely stay away from the water. I will not submerge a frightened student.

  • Clients register themselves. I do not have a staff.

Registration for 2026 will open March 7 at 10am.

You can purchase single lessons, or a package of 6. Either way……

Choose the length of the lesson you want -30, 45, or 60 minutes (siblings/twins/family can split the 60 minute option however you’d like).

Once you’ve decided on the time increment - choose the SINGLE option. A calendar appears. Choose your days and times. IF YOU CHOOSE THE PACKAGES - open a new tab and purchase the package - you will receive a code - copy it. Go back to the first tab and proceed to pay. Fill out the information needed and AT THE BOTTOM, SELECT “CHECK CODE BALANCE”. IF YOU DO NOT CHOOSE THE PACKAGES, proceed to pay for a single lesson.

  • Please come dressed in your swimsuit and bring a towel, sunscreen and change of clothes if you’d like. If you have long hair, a swim cap is preferred, or tying it back is fine. If there will be younger siblings who will be waiting, perhaps some snacks and games? On miserably hot days, if observers wish to swim, they can as long as they don’t distract the student and are comfortable in deep water.

  • Swim diapers may “contain” a bowel movement but they don’t waterproof anything. Urine and fecal material leach out of them - EWWW. My pool is a residential pool with residential filters. I keep chlorine levels between 2 and 5 parts per million. If there is a fecal incident, I charge a $250 fee as the pool needs to be closed immediately for 12 hours and super chlorinated.

  • Absolutely not. I may ask you to stay out of our range of vision if there any attachment behaviors taking place. This is also a safety requirement - if something were to happen to me, someone needs to call for help and get the student out.

  • My lessons are like baseball. I explain the rules - walking, listening and good effort. I’ll give two warnings and then on strike three, they sit out for a minute.

  • Rarely. I have a 24 hour cancellation policy. If the pool closes earlier for the season, or I need to cancel due to illness, pool equipment failure, or my family emergencies, I will offer a makeup day. If the makeup option doesn’t work for both of us, then I will provide a refund.
